Who are we?
We are 7th Airedale (St. Margaret’s) Scout Group, we have been running for nearly 100 years and we currently provide scouting opportunities for 6 – 14 year olds in our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts Sections.
We are based in our own building on New Roadside in Horsforth and aim to help as many young people achieve skills for live through the Scout Association’s program of Activities, Badges and Awards.
Group Leadership Team
The Group is headed up by Cassy Simpson and Chris Heath as Joint Group Lead Volunteers , Cassy & Chris have overall oversight for the whole of the group and and ensure that all of the sections offer an engaging & exciting mix of activities for our young people.
Scouts Section Team
The Scouts section is headed up by Alastair Dawson, along with Dave, Simon & James. They run a challenging and adventurous program of activities during term time for 10½ – 14 year olds.
Cubs Section Team
The Cubs section is headed up by Colin Oxley (Akela), along with Helen, Shuzhen, Terry, Chris B, April, Fernando and our Young Leaders Henry & Eddie, Together then run a fun and exciting program of activities during term time for 8 – 10½ year olds.
Cub Leaders traditionally adopt a ‘scouting’ name from ‘The Jungle Book’. Akela is always the name of the Cub Section Leader, where a leader has adopted a scouting name it will be listed in brackets after their real name.
Beavers Section Team
The Beavers section is headed up by Cassy Simpson (Spider) along with Helen (Racoon), Dan (Dung Beetle), Chris H (Chipmunk), Emma (Wolf), Karen (Badger), Neil (Dormouse) and our Young Leader Finlay (Cobra) Together they run a fun and friendly program of sessions and activities during term time for 6 – 8 year olds.
Our Beaver Leaders have all adopted ‘scouting’ names from Woodland & Forest animals from around the world, their scouting name is listed in brackets after to their real name.
Trustee Board
Our Trustee board work to make sure Scouts is run safely and legally. At the heart of their role is a focus on strategy, performance and assurance. The Trustee Board is headed up by David Wells as Chair, Supported by Mary, Naomi, Dean, Katherine, Alastair, Becky and the Group Lead Volunteers.
