Over the summer break the volunteer Leaders decided a (belated) spring clean of our store rooms and downstairs area at the Hut was needed and the group have spent many nights (continuing into the new term) clearing, organising and tidying which was long overdue.
A massive thanks to Neil one of our Beaver Leaders who organised and secured a donation from his Employer Boohoo of some fantastic storage racking which has enabled this project to go ahead.
The aim is to create some additional useable space in the hut for sessions, with a plan to create a ‘quiet’ area in the smaller front room allowing a space for young people who need a break from the main scouting session.
In addition we are hoping to renovate the former Venture Scout Room downstairs to create a useable space for smaller groups of young people to carry out activities at the same time as the main hall is being used. We are hoping to obtain some grant funding for this part of the project as this room is in a fairly poor state and needs flooring, wall re-plastering and decorating to be made a safe usable space for young people.
If anyone is aware of any funding or grants offered by their employers for charitable organisations that we could be eligible to apply for please speak to any of the leaders.
